Joining our dedicated team is Ms. Melissa, an instructor deeply committed to fostering musical growth. She shines particularly in teaching piano to beginners and young students, where her patient and passionate guidance helps cultivate both solid technique and a lasting appreciation for music.
Rooted in Music
Ms. Melissa, deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for music, brings her extensive experience and dedication to Dr. Chen Piano Studio. She holds a B.A. in Music from Kutztown University, with a background that includes active participation in band, choir, and musicals, and serving as a music tutor. Her diverse musical experiences also encompass performing with Church Choirs and skillfully singing and playing Keyboard.

Melissa's passion for music education comes alive through over 35 years of dedicated instruction, specializing in private piano lessons and cultivating a love for music in countless students. Her extensive teaching repertoire extends well beyond the piano to include beginner singing lessons and music appreciation programs tailored for young children, all designed to foster musical development from an early age.
As a highly experienced Homeschool Music Teacher, Melissa excels at crafting engaging curricula that cover a wide array of topics, including Intro to Music, Music History, and Music Theory. She possesses a unique gift for making complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for young learners, ensuring that even intricate musical knowledge is imparted in a fun and engaging way.
Teaching with Passion and Purpose
Melissa truly LOVES teaching, and her philosophy reflects this passion by making music lessons fun and entertaining, while still ensuring effective learning. She is deeply committed to catering to each student's individual strengths, understanding that everyone learns at a different pace. Melissa is particularly adept at teaching beginners, patiently guiding them to grasp foundational concepts while meticulously ensuring they develop correct playing techniques from the very start.
Melissa takes immense pride in her students' achievements, celebrating every milestone — whether it takes them a month, a week, a day, or even a minute to "Master" a song. Her long teaching career has seen many of her young piano students flourish, with some even pursuing professional musical paths and gaining admission to esteemed institutions such as Oberlin Conservatory and The Juilliard School.She is enthusiastically looking forward to creating lasting musical memories with each student at Dr. Chen Piano Studio.
